Careers in the Nursing Profession

What: “Careers in the Nursing Profession” via Interactive Video Conference When: May 7 at 9:00 am or 10:00 am Cost: $75

WVIZ’a Careers in Healthcare program series will conclude this school year with a special program “Careers in the Nursing Profession” on May 7th. Their guest presenters will include a Nurses from the MetroHealth System and the University of Akron Allied Health Career Program.

The nursing profession promises a fulfilling and enriching experience for anyone looking to make a positive impact on countless number of lives. Students interested in pursuing a career in nursing should be encouraged to join us as our guests discuss their educational background, required training, skills and day-to-day responsibilities.

Schools interested in participating in this program should contact my office by May 3rd.

Slots Available for the WVIZ and the Great Lakes Science Center Present “Weight Management and a Healthy Lifestyle” Distance Learning Program

WVIZ’s BioMedTech STEM (Students Translating and Exploring Medicine) series concludes with a special presentation from Dr. Eileen Seeholzer of the Case Western Reserve School of Medicine. Dr. Seeholzer is a leading physician and researcher in weight management and will share with your students innovations in the treatment for obesity, diabetes and heart disease. The program is scheduled for Wednesday, April 17th from 10:0 to 11:00 a.m.

Please share the attached flyer with your Health, Math, Science and Social Studies teachers and students. Schools interested in participating in this educational enrichment opportunity should let me know by Tuesday, April 16th.

The program is supported by the National Institutes of Health and is FREE to all participating schools.

“Leadership Lessons from Apollo to Discovery”

The video conference will take place on Tuesday, April 23 at 1p.m.

Expose your students to international experts in exciting areas that shape the world in which we live. Your students will be able to ask Col. Eileen Collins questions through a live video and audio feed.

Astronaut and shuttle commander Col. Eileen Collins is a pioneer of aviation. After being the second woman to graduate from the Air Force Test Pilot School in 1990, she was selected for NASA’s astronaut program. On her inaugural shuttle mission in February 1995, she became the first woman to pilot a space shuttle. In July 1999, Collins achieved more milestones by becoming the first woman to command a shuttle mission and the first astronaut to pilot a 360-degree pitch maneuver. She commanded Space Shuttle Discovery’s historic “Return to Flight” mission in July 2005, before retiring. Collins made four shuttle missions in her NASA career, logging more than 872 hours in space.
